I try to keep a running list of all the books our kids read
over the course of our homeschool year.
Last week they made it to 400 books !
Every 100 books earns them a "Day of Fun".
Previous trips have been to the zoo, bowling, and other family fun activities.
This time, I had pre-purchased tickets to StorybookLand.
It's a family Amusement Park in southern NJ,
which has been open since 1955.
I've been before with Marigold a few times,
and Caleb was there when he was a few months old.
But this time, I knew all the kids would really enjoy themselves...
and they did! Here are our favorite pics from our trip.
Schools are still in for most of NJ
because of all the snow days we had this year...
so the park was pretty quiet for this time of year :)
That meant there were no lines for the rides!
I love how clean and well manicured the grounds are
Besides great rides, the park has displays from
many Children's Stories and Mother Goose Rhymes
The Three Little Pigs
Marigold was big enough to ride along with Caleb on most rides :)
My Mom came along to celebrate with us -
She's so much fun, and of course,
such a help juggling the kids
We couldn't have asked for nicer weather-
Hardly a cloud in the sky.
There is so much natural and man made shade in the park,
It never felt too hot.
Alice in Wonderland!
The underground "Wonderland" is covered in
black light responsive murals,
telling Alice's Story.
Followed by a maze of cards
And a tea cup ride just outside :)
This Beanstalk Bounce ride was new to us
The kids really enjoyed it
And here is Jack's cow -
you can milk her...super cute!
Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
We took the train ride that goes around the perimeter of the park.
It was a nice opportunity to rest everyone's feet for a while.
The Three Bears' House -
All of the displays have buttons,
and once pushed, the interior features animate,
and tell a story/play a song.
Another nice thing about Storybookland is that you can bring in your own food.
There is a very large picnicking area...
You can even get your hand stamped, and go to your car to pick up/drop things off,
which means you don't have to lug everything around with you all day!
The North Pole is actually Freezing Cold!
The kids thought that was pretty amazing, since it was so hot outside
Dumbo Ride!
Caleb wanted to sit in the very front of the roller coaster
This photo op has original seats from the old Philly's stadium.
Humpty Dumpty
Jack and Jill's Hill-
They kept running up, and sliding down...
Just goes to show a simple slide can be as much fun
as an carnival ride.
The Merry Miller
Moby Dick -
Peter, Peter, Pumpkin eater
The Crooked Man's Crooked house
The old woman who lived in a shoe
The Balloon ride
We got to go on many of the rides multiple times...
which meant I got to go on with different kids each time :)
After hours of rides and looking at displays,
we changed, and headed to the Sea Port splash area
It was a nice way to cool off!
Afterwards, we dried off and got back into our dry clothes
And went on a few last rides
Marigold was brave enough to go on the roller coaster by herself,
her last time around :)
Mom took the kids to the Beanstalk Bounce as their last ride choice...
Ashlynn is still too little for that one, so she chose Alice in Wonderland
She kept running back up to go down the slide
And wanted her picture with "The Grouchy One" :)
We stayed from 10:30-5:00, when they closed!
6 1/2 hours of absolute fun
We had just enough time to grab a few souvenirs at the gift shop.
It was such a perfect day!
I can hardly wait for the kids to read another 100 books,
so we can go on another adventure!
