Garden Rambling

One wonderful thing about not having to move in the foreseeable future is having a garden.

We really enjoyed our space last year, but for 2022,  I have a goal to have an even more productive garden.

In order to make my garden dreams come to fruition, we needed to be able to start plants from seed, and have much more space for planting.

I did a LOT of seed shopping during the pandemic.

With so many options at my fingertips, I just needed a reliable way to start seedlings.  Last month, Jared helped me to set up a growlight shelving unit in our basement.  Already we have tons of tiny sprouts enjoying their space.

This week we've added 5 raised beds to our garden space, making 11 total.  We've utilized broken down wood and leaves from our back property to fill the beds halfway.  We followed this method on our old boxes with great success.  Of course this saves money on our overall soil costs, but I also feel it adds to our soil's health-  (Plenty of active bugs and worms, and even good bacteria & fungal activity)

Jared and I took a trip to a local garden store to buy a yard of leaf mold, and a yard of well rotted compost.  We'll add many bags of free topsoil we were given by a neighbor, and peat moss for loft.
We couldn't be more excited for a new season to grow in, and we'll be sure to do weekly updates of our abundance.
