I Love Science - Crystals!

We've been studying crystals in science for a few weeks.

We discussed how they are formed and categorized.

We did a lot of experiments too (Mostly about Salt and Sugar)...

We looked at salt and sugar under our microscope - 

Marigold was amazed to see the difference 

The end result of our evaporite experiment...

we dissolved salt into water and let the water completely evaporate

If you look closely, you can see the cube shape of the salt crystals

The outcome wasn't as stellar as I had hoped for, 

but you can see from Marigold's face that she couldn't be happier about it

Again, if you look closely, you can see the hexagonal prism shape of the sugar crystals.

I Love Parties! - Pioneer Birthday

Only in Utah!

One of Marigold's friends invited us to her pioneer party.

They held it at the Pioneer Village in Provo.

It was really fun...

Almost like stepping back in time 

^_^

When we arrived, there was an apron and bonnet hanging on the line for each girl.

Then they had to find clues to lead them around the village.  

At each stop, they would learn a fact about pioneer life, and do an activity.

Inside the schoolhouse making necklaces

They taught the girls about the alphabet Brigham Young had made...

Then they each got to try to spell their name using it

Caleb loved the pioneer toys

Bobbing for apples at the general store

Some things are actually for sale 

They also had egg races and sack races

The Blacksmith's Shop had a large open area where they ate a pioneer lunch and had cake.

I Love the Circus!

We went as a family to see

Barnum and Bailey present Dragons

It was really fun!

They didn't have any at the last circus we went to

Caleb's favorite part was watching the motorcycles in the ball of steel...

They got 8 of those guys in there - pretty amazing

We finished off the evening with dinner at the training table.

I Love Color!

Jared and I had a great time out together this Saturday.

We ran the Color Run 5k...

It was amazingly fun!

Best Date so far this year 

^_^

It's my first official 5k, so I was thankful for Jared's support!

There were so many runners, that they let people start in waves...

We were in wave #7

We took some videos during the race...I'll have to post them sometime :)

Basically, there were people throwing colored corn starch at you every kilo you ran.

We jogged the whole way, and finished in 36 minutes!

Everyone who had finished the race got extra "color" to throw

I can highly recommend the experience!!

We hope to do it again next year!
