I Love Milestones - 2 Months!

Our little Ashlynn went in for her two month check up.
She's not so little anymore...
She's grown from 7 lbs 13 oz to 10 lbs 10.5 0z
and
from 19 inches to 23 inches!
She makes her Mommy proud.

I Love My Kiddos - Meeting Cosmo

Jared took our two older kids to a BYU baseball game.
Caleb and Marigold got to meet Cosmo for the first time.
Their smiles say it all!

I Love Saturdays - Rock Canyon with the Fam

Saturday is fast becoming my favorite day of the week...
I guess it has always been my favorite day,
but the reasons for it being so have changed as I've aged.
Staying in pajamas and watching cartoons, Kung Fu, or MST3K
used to make it the highlight of my week.
Now it's family day, and I love it!
Every Saturday that Jared is home, we're doing something different as a family.
This week, we took a hike up Rock Canyon to the Squaw Peak trailhead.
I must be getting old, because if you ask me,
waking up early to pack, strap on a baby, and hit the trail
sure beats sitting in front of a glowing box.

I Love Rock n' Roll - twisty bun mohawk

I saw this hairstyle, and just had to try it out on Marigold.
She really liked it, and her friends thought it was cool too.
Caleb's reaction was "Wow...nice!"
It really is fun to have a girl with super long hair to play with.

I Love Tiny Surprises...

Which is what we got on March 8th at about 4:30 in the morning.
Little Ashlynn came into our family,
and although we knew she would be a girl,
and approximately how large she would be,
seeing her for the first time was such a great surprise.
Then we knew...
No more questions about who she would look like.
She has dark hair, a tiny body, long fingers and toes, and Daddy's nose!
No more wondering what her personality would be.
She loves to be held, takes a pacifier,
wants to sleep with Mommy, and hates her carseat.
She's so unique - totally different from her big brother and sister!
It's hard to believe that she is already over a month old,
working on her neck muscles,
and tracking movements with her big beautiful eyes.

I Love Stories - Sink Time

I am just finishing my sink full of dishes, when I feel a tug at my shirt.
"Hi Caleb.  Mommy's almost done," I respond with my usual phrase.
"Me watch you,"he says, with a big smile on his face.
So, drag a stool over to the sink.
My chore is made easier now as I listen to his comments.
"Look, Mommy, bubbles in there!"
"Water in there, Mommy"
"A spoon!", etc...
Then I load some things into the dishwasher and clean the sink.
"Me wash dishes, Mommy."
How can I say no to such a cute face?
So I get out a few non breakables, and turn on some lukewarm water.
I'm taken back to a few years ago, when that little voice and cute face were Marigold's.
It's now one of those teary eyed moments that make being a mom worth it.

I Love Food...Library Recipes

As part of Marigold's homeschooling, we take weekly trips to the library.
Recently, her love of reading and love of helping in the kitchen have joined forces.
She loves to check out recipe books to find something in them we can make together.
Today we are making Outside and Inside Cobbler Riddle from The Redwall Cookbook.
The cookbook is full of short stories about animal friends, each followed by a recipe.
Today's recipe is a peach cobbler with a few interesting ingredients to make it special
(almond flour, orange zest, etc...)
It smells great baking in the oven!
I really enjoy cooking and baking with Marigold.
She not only gets to practice reading and math,
but I can really see how proud she is of her kitchen skills.
I hope that Library Recipes will remain a tradition for a long time to come.
